Singapore is compact, safe and astonishingly easy for visitors. English is everyday, public transport is excellent, and most of the big sights sit within half an hour of each other: Marina Bay and its gardens, the zoo and Night Safari, and the theme parks and beaches of Sentosa.

It suits families above all, and short city breaks for couples. Food is one of the main reasons to come, from hawker centres to fine dining, with plenty of halal-certified choices.

Visa and entry

  • Holders of passports from a listed group of countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco, need a Singapore visa before travelling. Most other nationalities do not.

Questions about travelling to Singapore

Do UAE residents need a visa for Singapore?

It depends on your passport. Citizens of countries on Singapore's visa-required list, such as India and Pakistan, must apply before travelling. All travellers submit the SG Arrival Card within three days of arrival.

How many days do we need?

Four nights cover Marina Bay, Sentosa, the zoo and the main districts. Add a night if you want both Universal Studios and the water park.

Is Singapore expensive?

Hotels are, food need not be: hawker centres serve excellent meals at modest prices.

Is it easy to find halal food?

Yes. Look for the MUIS halal certificate, which is common in food courts, malls and Kampong Glam.
