Etihad cancels Saudi flights to 5 November after Dammam attack

King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was attacked on the evening of Wednesday 21 October. Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation said two people were killed, a Saudi citizen and an Indian resident, and eight injured; flights were diverted during the attack, and the authority said on 22 October that operations had resumed and air traffic had returned to normal. The UAE condemned the attack.

Etihad has since extended its cancellations: all Abu Dhabi flights to Riyadh and Dammam, and the EY601 to EY604 Jeddah services, are cancelled through Thursday 5 November, and the airline says further changes remain possible. On 23 October Emirates again listed every Dubai flight to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam as cancelled while its Madinah flights operate; flydubai's Riyadh, Dammam and Abha flights are cancelled through 24 October, with Jeddah, Madinah, Tabuk and Gassim operating; and Air Arabia's Sharjah flights to Riyadh, Dammam, Abha, Jizan, Al Jouf and Tabuk are cancelled. Riyadh's airport has begun handling a limited number of domestic flights by Saudia and flynas, each with prior permission, while Lufthansa (to 18 November), Air France (to 7 November), KLM (to 31 October) and Cathay Pacific (to 31 January 2027) keep their Riyadh flights cancelled and British Airways plans one daily Riyadh flight from 3 November.

Residents travelling for Umrah should confirm their flight to Jeddah or Madinah with the airline before leaving for the airport.
